Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU), established in 2004, has emphasized long-term institutional planning through successive strategic plans, culminating in the 2017–2028 Strategic Plan. The University aims to provide relevant and quality education that responds to the needs of both fresh school leavers and working professionals through regular, evening, weekend, and extension programmes.
A major focus of the 2017–2028 Strategic Plan, particularly Goal Three, is to promote research, innovation, discovery, and knowledge dissemination to improve human welfare and contribute to community development.
The department’s vision is to foster an academic environment that develops self-reliant, problem-solving, research-oriented, and innovative individuals with a mission is to drive transformative change through research, innovation, education, and solutions to societal challenges.
The department strive to:
- Promote research, innovation, discovery, and publication among staff, students and the public.
- Build the capacity of the research department and faculties to conduct and advance basic and applied research.
- Disseminate research findings through seminars, academic publications, and journal articles
To achieve these objectives, the University plans to:
- Support each faculty to develop annual research themes under the supervision of the research department.
- Strengthen research capacity building for staff, students and community.
- Support monthly faculty or departmental research seminars.
- Publish atleast 20 peer reviewed academic journal articles to promote knowledge dissemination and research findings.
