Uganda Pentecostal University Celebrates Alumni Day Under Theme “Reconnecting the Past, Strengthening the Future”
Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) celebrated Alumni Day on Saturday, 11th April 2026, at its Mucwa Main Campus Fort Portal City.
The event brought together alumni, staff, continuing students, and invited guests for a day of celebration, sports, and engagement with the university’s future.
The function, organized under the theme “Reconnecting the Past, Strengthening the Future”, included a visit to UPU’s new campus under construction in Kidukuru, Kasusu North Division, Fort Portal.
Vice Chancellor Uganda Pentecostal University UPU Prof. Pelucy Ntambirweki encouraged alumni to serve as ambassadors of the university and to support its growth. “Always speak UPU wherever you go. Your support is crucial for the university’s future,” she said.
The day featured sports competitions and interactive activities. A football match between alumni and continuing students ended 2-2, with alumni winning 5-4 on penalties. In ladies’ netball, alumni also emerged champions. Additional activities included bull roasting and a car wash organized by the Guild Cabinet, adding fun and engagement for attendees.
Hon. Sam Magezi, former NRM chairman of Kyenjojo District, served as chief guest and was installed as Chairman of the UPU Alumni Association.
Hon. Magezi pledged to actively support the association and contribute to the betterment of the university.
Mr. Baguma Richard Kakakamba, UPU’s Public Relations Officer, urged alumni to always participate in university activities, saying their involvement enhances the university’s image both locally and internationally.
